CAN Control System PTC Electric Heater

Product Description
The E-Series high-voltage PTC coolant heater is designed for thermal management systems in small commercial vehicles, offering 20–24 kW heating-power options in a compact, low-profile structure. Its high heating capacity and reduced installation-height requirements make it suitable for vehicle platforms with limited mounting space, supporting battery heating and cabin heating applications.

The heater should be selected according to the vehicle’s electrical system, required thermal output, coolant operating conditions, available installation space, and control interface requirements to ensure compatibility with the intended application.

Final specifications and protection thresholds should be confirmed according to the selected configuration and approved technical agreement.

Product Description

The heater converts electrical energy from the vehicle’s high-voltage system into heat and transfers it to the circulating coolant. The warmed coolant can then flow through the battery thermal management circuit, a cabin heat exchanger or another approved coolant loop.

Actual heating performance depends on the complete thermal system. Coolant type, flow rate, inlet temperature, pressure drop, hose routing and heat-exchanger conditions should be considered together with the rated heating power. The correct heater should therefore be selected from the vehicle’s real operating conditions rather than from power alone.

CAN communication allows the vehicle controller to coordinate heater operation with the thermal management system. Before integration, the CAN protocol, connector arrangement, control logic, mounting position and fault-handling requirements should be confirmed.

Applications

Hybrid Electric Vehicle Automotive Hv Ptc Heater Water

EV Battery Thermal Management

The heater can warm coolant before it enters the battery thermal management circuit. This supports battery temperature control during low-temperature operation. Battery temperature limits, required heating rate, coolant flow and control strategy should be defined by the vehicle manufacturer.

Electric Vehicle Cabin Heating

For cabin heating, warmed coolant passes through a cabin heat exchanger to provide heat for the passenger compartment. Heating performance depends on both coolant circulation and airflow through the HVAC heat exchanger.

Electric Buses, Trucks and Construction Vehicles

The 15–35kW range is intended for vehicle platforms with substantial heating demand. Suitability for a specific vehicle must be confirmed from its voltage platform, target heat output, available installation space and coolant-system design.

Frequently Asked Questions
1.What does a high voltage PTC coolant heater do?

It uses electrical power from the vehicle’s high-voltage system to heat circulating coolant. The coolant can then transfer heat to the battery system, cabin heat exchanger or another approved thermal circuit.

2.Is the 15–35kW heater suitable for every electric vehicle?

No. It is intended for projects with relatively high heating demand. The correct configuration depends on operating voltage, required heat output, coolant conditions, installation space and control requirements.

3.Can one heater support both battery and cabin heating?

It may support either application when the vehicle coolant architecture and control strategy allow it. Some vehicles use separate circuits, while others use valves or a shared thermal loop.

4.What information is required to select a heater?

Please provide the vehicle type, operating-voltage range, required heating power, coolant type, expected flow rate, inlet-temperature range, installation space, connector requirements and CAN communication requirements.

5.Can the mounting, connectors or control interface be customized?

Project-specific requirements can be evaluated after the installation drawing, packaging space and electrical interface are provided. The final configuration should be confirmed in the approved drawing and technical agreement.
